Set the scene. I’m returning for yet another ski holiday and thanks to a slight pronation my rental boots are not fun. After a quick chat with my friend (AI), I stumbled upon Steve inside his garage. It’s mid afternoon late in the season, the sun is shining in and Steve’s treating himself for his first beer of the season. I take a pew alongside a brain surgeon and a young French-speaking lassie. Socks off, the show begins.

In all seriousness (and all of the above was factually correct as I saw it), Steve provided some invaluable insights and although, since it was late in the season he didn’t have the right boot for me, he did make custom insoles which I used in my rental boots for the rest of the holiday and they made a significant difference. Thank you!!

It’s not your typical ski boot fitting shop, but all the better for it.

(Translated by Google) I thank Steve for his availability, efficiency, advice, and the work he did. He's probably changed my perspective on ski boots forever. Besides the professionalism that permeates the workshop, he's a great guy. I'll be back... and I also recommend that anyone like me who didn't give much importance to the boot-buying process should think again and take the time to be guided in their choice. Seeing is believing.

Outstanding professionalism, customer care, and genuine friendliness!

I should mention that I don’t have standard feet and that I am a very passionate skier. For years I skied in size 28 boots because they were the only ones that could accommodate my prominent ankle bone and wide forefoot.

In December, I decided to buy a new pair of ski boots and, almost by chance, I came across Sole Boot Lab. I was welcomed by Steeve, who explained that this is not just a regular shop, but a specialized bootfitting center. Here, you don’t simply choose a pair of boots yourself: you book an appointment and, after a thorough assessment, the professional recommends the most suitable model for your feet.

At first, I was skeptical because I had never heard of bootfitting before, but I decided to book an appointment and returned a few days later.

After several fitting sessions and custom-made insoles, I purchased the boots. I was advised to go with a 26.5, which was considered the ideal size for my feet. During the first few ski days, I experienced some discomfort, but every time, at the end of the day, I stopped by the shop and they were always extremely helpful, making the necessary adjustments to both the shell and the liner.

Now I can honestly say we have reached near perfection. I ski from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. feeling light and comfortable, with a completely different sensation compared to before. I have greater control, more precision, and above all, increased confidence.

Sebastian, you’re a genius! You did an outstanding job and, with my particular feet, I believe very few people would have achieved such a result. I highly recommend them, even if you’re not in Chamonix. I travel from Courmayeur, and now I trust only them!

    Dear Steven,

I wanted to personally thank you for the incredible work you did on my two new boots. I trusted you to size me down by two full sizes, and I am so happy I did — you have a unique approach, and it was truly amazing. I finally have a truly firm ankle lock on my hyper mobile joints, and the improvement in power transfer has been nothing short of remarkable.

I’m currently skiing in Georgia with the Hawx XTD, both on and off piste, and the performance has been absolutely incredible. The control and confidence I feel now are on a completely different level, and it’s a direct result of your expertise and approach.

Please also extend my sincere thanks to your team, especially Seb, for his time, patience, and dedication — not only to me but clearly to all of your customers. The level of care and knowledge at Sole Boot Lab really stands apart.

I look forward to seeing you again — whether back in Chamonix or in your store in NYC when you open it. Your knowledge and service are truly unmatched, and the benefit I’ve gained from this experience is something I have honestly never had before in my life.

Thank you again for everything, and I look forward to crossing paths again soon.

    Warm regards,
    Babak

I am an old, retired doctor with very awkward feet and a demand to match. Fantastic knowledgeable full service. They are happy for you to make return visits to get things perfect, change things, and make you happy. The owner said to me "I am a cook, I am going to cook you up the perfect boots" . True to his word.

Update. It seems by boots and liners are 8 yrs old. They needed some adjustments. Sole did this perfectly and did not charge as I was an old customer ( very true). That's service!

Brilliant boot fitting service. I’ve had two pairs of Sure Foot boots but these are by far the best fitting I’ve ever had. The process is detailed with foot beds hand made to correct the foot properly (not machine made like sure foot) and the liners heated to mould to your foot. I have now skied with the boots 6 days and they are comfortable with a tight fit. Overall couldn’t be happier

A Life-Changing Experience at SOLE Boot Lab, Chamonix

I cannot recommend SOLE Boot Lab in Chamonix highly enough. Quite simply, they gave me my skiing back.
Last year, after just one day of skiing, I ended up with second-degree burns on both my lower shins, skin actually coming off, and I was unable to ski for an entire year. What followed were countless hospital visits and consultations, but no real solution. I was desperate.
I already knew SOLE Boot Lab from previous trips to Chamonix—they had fitted boots for both my daughter and my son in the past, and their advice was always incredibly knowledgeable, science-backed, and genuinely impressive. So I decided to book a flight to Chamonix and put my trust in them.
From the very first phone call, Steve was outstanding. He explained that my issue was most likely a body/boot mechanical problem, not something random or unsolvable. That clarity alone was reassuring. Spending time in SOLE Boot Lab is never wasted—Steve and Seb are an absolute pleasure to deal with, and their expertise is on another level.
They fitted me with new, even smaller boots, paired with custom Intuition wrap liners, and sent me off to test them on the slopes the very next morning.
    By late lunchtime… nothing.
No pain.
No damage.
I carried on skiing the gentle slopes of Balme for the rest of the day without a single issue.
The following day, feeling confident for the first time in a year, I pushed things further—Les Grands Montets, then Brévent and Flégère, skiing all the pisted runs in one long, hard day. At the end of it, my legs were still completely fine.
It was nothing short of a miracle.
Steve and the team at SOLE Boot Lab—thank you, thank you, thank you. You didn’t just fix a boot problem; you gave me back something I thought I’d lost for good. I’m back on my skis, with a massive grin on my face.
Because of them, I’m now booked to attend the Winter Olympic Games in Italy, and more importantly, I’ll be able to enjoy days of skiing with my daughter on the non-event days.
    Happy New Year indeed!!!

If you’re struggling with boot pain, injury, or think “this is just how skiing feels now”—go to SOLE Boot Lab. These people change lives.
